Hi everyone
So I’m really excited because I have some lovely new Barry M polishes to show you!
Candy Culture is a new range of gorgeous pastel cremes for Spring/Summer 18. What is most thrilling about these polishes is that they are all scented.
This isn’t the first time Barry M have released scented polish – do you remember the Lolly Gloss gellies from 2016?
They were a real hit with me so I was really happy to see these new ones!
The packaging on these polishes are absolutely adorable- the neon pink fruit and sweeties on the caps look so cute.
Similarly to the Lolly Gloss scents, these Candy Culture pastels all smell like sweeties and their names give a clue to which candy they will smell like.
Barry M do say that that you have to wait for the polish to dry before you can properly smell the lovely sweet treat inspired fragrances.
So in order to test this I wore all the polishes on my cindy hand for a couple of days without topcoat.
I’ll talk about the different scents when we get to the swatches but I will say that they lasted about 2 days before I couldn’t smell them anymore.
As a Mum I’m constantly washing my hands and washing up bottles so that probably lessened the staying power of the scents. But it was fun to have yummy smelling nails for a while!
All the polishes have a similar formula in that they are opaque in 2 coats and dry to a semi-matte satin finish.
While easy to apply, they do have a fairly runny consistency so I’d advise against loading up the brush to much when applying.
So moving onto the swatches – I used 2 coats for all shades and my swatches are without topcoat.
First up is Blueberry Bonbon. I would say this is my favourite of the 4 shades. It is a dusty, grey leaning powder blue and really reminds me of blue bonbons!
I think this one definitely smells exactly like the chewy little candies and it has the strongest scent of the collection.

Next up is Strawberry Laces. I loved those sweets as a kid and still do now!!
This is a gorgeous, classic baby pink which looks slightly chalky in the bottle but this doesn’t transfer to the nail. For a pastel pink, it applies really nicely.
Scent-wise it did smell sweet once dry, but I couldn’t really catch the strawberry laces smell.

The third polish in the collection is Raspberry Sherbet. It’s quite an unusual cool violet shade. So pretty.
To me, this one smells a bit like Raspberry yoghurt. Which I like, so all good there!

Finally we have Coconut Cream. This lovely lilac toned taupe shade smells so delicious.
I’d describe the scent as sweet and creamy with a hint of chocolate. It’s really very nice.
This one is office friendly and will go with everything.

So that’s it for the swatches. The Candy Culture collection is perfect for Spring and the added scents make this a really fun release from Barry M.
I wonder if BM will make some more shades for this collection – a nice pastel lime (chocolate lime scent?!) would be a nice addition.
The Candy Culture Collection is available for in Superdrug and on the Barry M website. They are priced at £3.99 each.
Let me know what you think of this collection, are you a fan of scented polish?
Thanks for stopping by!
