*This was a gift*
For my birthday back in May I received a set of minis from the OPI Hawaii collection.
The colours I received were Suzi Shops & Island Hops, Thats Hula-rious and Lost My Bikini in Molokini. The fourth polish in the set is Aloha from OPI and that is the one I want to show you today.
I must admit, I don’t normally go for reds, I know they are classic but I can find them quite (dare I say it…) boring and I always ignore them when shopping for polish.
So this shade has been sitting in my Helmer, untried and ignored…until now that is! I was looking for a polish in a shade I hadn’t worn in a while and Aloha from OPI was perfect (I can’t remember when I last wore red polish).
I don’t have much experience with OPI as they are a little out of my price range but I adore all of the collections they release and spend many an hour poring over swatches online. Of course I am aware that on the whole, OPI polishes have amazing formula and this one didn’t disappoint. It is creamy, opaque and smooth. The pictures show 2 coats with Glisten and Glow HK Girl topcoat.
Aloha from OPI is a very bright, coral leaning red. I guess its slightly blue toned as well and it really is different from a typical ‘red’ polish. It is a perfect summer colour and really stands out on the nail.
The only downside of the mini bottles is that I find the brush hard to hold and I end up with a shaky hand halfway through. This of course is not a fault with OPI – its just that the mini brush doesn’t work for me. For some reason the bristles on my brush were splayed which also hindered application slightly. But the formula was so fantastic none of this really mattered.
I am so pleased with the end result, I like it so much I have kept it on as a full mani! The colour is so bright and shiny that I feel like I am wearing gel polish. Who would have thought I would enjoy wearing a red so much!
Please let me know what you think in the comments – do you like wearing reds or do you find them a little un-exciting like me? Also, has anyone ever had an issue with splayed brushes? I find them very irritating.
