*I bought this*
I’m still on my quest to own lots of unusual and different light blue polishes. So I was really excited when I saw Merryweather – True Loves Kiss by Princess Nail Lacquer!
Merryweather was originally sold as part of the Sleeping Beauty trio, but Ashleigh was kind enough to sell me a bottle of Merryweather on its own. Thankyou Ashleigh!
At first glance Merryweather is a baby blue creme. But take a second look and you’ll see so much going on!
There’s a sprinkling of gold shimmer, along with a beautiful glimmer of a pink iridescent shimmer. LOVE! It’s really beautiful and is unique in my stash.
I used 2 coats for my swatch. Merryweather has a decent formula which applies easily. It is thick but self levelling which is great.
Princess Nail Lacquer use wide, thick brushes which make application a breeze and there’s little clean up needed as a result.
When browsing Ashleigh’s store on etsy, I came across Glass Slipper which is a quick dry topcoat. I’m running low on my usual topcoat (Glisten & Glow HK Girl), so I thought I would take the opportunity to try a new one.
I decided to use Glass Slipper over Merryweather and I wasn’t disappointed. It is definitely quick drying, very glossy and it feels smooth when dry. Also, it doesn’t have a bad smell like some topcoats (Seche Vite anyone?).
I wore this mani for almost 3 full days and I didn’t see any shrinkage from Glass Slipper which is always great when it comes to topcoats!
However, the mani did chip quite a lot which I don’t normally experience. I’m not sure if this was down to using a different topcoat or if it’s was just my nail chemistry.
I’ve used HK Girl for so long now that I don’t think I’ll ever prefer another brand of topcoat over it, but it’s nice to have an alternative in Glass Slipper. It really is fast drying and very shiny.
Overall, I’m really impressed with my first polishes from Princess Nail Lacquer. They are great quality for a low price. I’m looking forward to seeing what else will come from this indie brand.
Thanks for reading.
